about

Hello!

I'm Chris Rehberg.

My photography journey began in the 1990s - developing rolls of film and printing them in the darkroom.

As soon as digital cameras became available, I was on board - my first camera cost me AU$1,600 for just a 1 megapixel sensor, but it had 8x optical zoom!

In the early days I mostly shot nature and landscape scenes, with occasional figural work with friends. Working outdoors taught me to see pictures - to notice the light, the shadows, the composition, the background, the framing; how to capture the story that was there.

In the 2010s I upgraded my gear to pro-level and decided I would spend more time exploring human figure photography. I quickly bought studio flash, went to numerous workshops and began shooting all kinds of things - corporate portraits, fashion shows, weddings, music gigs, dance, product shots, model portfolios, body painting, underwater and so much more. Many shoots were commercial and photography was my full time income for a time.

I also began teaching photography to small groups and individuals and running workshops where creatives could all collaborate to produce amazing images - models, makeup artists, hair and fashion stylists.

Having explored such a diversity of photography I am drawn back to some simple elements that constantly capture my attention - the human figure, abstraction, low key lighting - and some complementary themes - fabrics, wide open natural spaces, grasses, textures, line art.

I am always on the lookout for models who would like to work together - whether you are full-time professional or even just thinking about starting out, there's always a project that can work for everyone.

I run ad-hoc workshops and classes - in Oatley, Sydney, Australia. If you're interested in learning, or if you're another creative, working in makeup, hair, fashion, or a performance artist working with dance or figural movement - then get in touch.
